DIY-Cute Summer Cover Ups

This summer my sister and I decided to make some clothes...it's really fun! Luckily our mom has a sewing machine and surger that we could use.  My two outfits were made from a pattern that you can buy at any sewing store; Chrissie's was made from one of my dad's old polo shirts.

This jumper was redesigned from an old pattern my mom had from the 60's.  It's way better to make a jumper than buy one, because you can make it fit perfectly!

This beach coverup was super easy to make because we just cut up an old shirt, and put some elastic around the waist.

This dress came from a Butterick pattern.  The eyelet fabric is really pretty, but I had to put some lining in.

WANT IT

I want I want I want I want! Chanel's new bag...with the Kremlin embroidered on the front.  Such a nice twist on the classic look!

Neighborhood Gang

So we decided to do a little photo shoot with our neighbors, Jake, Ken, and Lena.  The boys were actually excited to pose for us...shocking! Here in south OC, hipsters are called "fixie kids" because of the bikes they ride.  Jake emulates this style, while Ken is more punk rock.

Vibrant Vibrations

So Friday was our free dance, which is normally super lame. However, I put on the obligatory tight, bright, clothes and went, and it turned out to be really fun! Best of all, it started raining in the middle of the dance, so we had some relief from the hheeaaatttt. (wearing: American Apparel dress and random H&M leggings)

OMG: Forever 21

These shoes are SO amazing.  They're only $26.80!!! They remind me of a dressier, yet more neutral, form of the tribal shoes shown by Luis Vuitton and other designers last Fall.  I really covet these shoes, but I'm afraid to buy cheap footwear ever since my sweet Target heels were immediately copied by, no joke, TWENTY girls in my sorority. I guess that's what I get for living in a house with seventy girls...

Forever 21 may be scary, messy, and ultra-trendy, but sometimes you just can't beat their prices when it comes to something you might only wear a few times.  I'm looking for formal dresses right now for TKE's date party next week, and the above dresses are seriously looking good! They're so fun and sexy, and I won't feel bad only wearing it once.  Plus, they're simple which means that I could wear some very fierce shoes!! Always a good thing =)

Britney Spears CIRCUS

This was an AMAZING concert! Britney IS back haha. I wore my White House | Black Market sequined skirt, Urban bra (it looks like a tank!) and shirt from my roommate's closet. My shoes are from H&M!

The first shoes are from Gap, and they come in gold, silver, and black! The second ones are Mia; I love love love the fringe and tiny wedge. Happy weekend!

..........Sex & the City.........

How can you not adore Sex & the City? The classic show causes two inevitable urges to manifest themselves in the minds of females everywhere...the urge to move to New York, and the urge wear ridiculous clothes and heels, pulling them off fabulously. Fabulous is a word that best describes the main characters of the show. Each have their own unique qualities, which together span everything any woman could ever relate to(even though everyone likes Samantha and Charlotte best). Above are the Fab Four themselves, and an item I both covet, and think relates to the amazing Sex & the City cast :)
